Foxborough adds crowd manager rule to bar licenses
Select Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Foxborough Select Board writes nightclub-era crowd manager rule into its alcohol license code. Deputy Fire Chief Don Triani said the new provision, tied to state rules adopted after the 2003 Station nightclub fire that killed 100 people, requires trained staff and daily safety checklists at high-occupancy bars. The board also approved a change of manager at the Scorpion Bar and Mexican Cantina, 253 Patriot Place, and a permit modification allowing renovation instead of demolition at 76 North High Street.
Officials reported Police Chief Michael Grace won a statewide Innovation Leader Award for World Cup planning and that state Senator Jack Feeney secured a $125,000 earmark to study railroad noise complaints. The warrant for the November 9 Town Meeting closed with 24 articles. "When people go into these places, they have an expectation of safety," Triani said.
