FOXBOROUGH --

COMMUNITY -- State Sen. Feeney and state Rep. Chase appeared before the Select Board on October 6 to present legislative resolutions commending the town for its execution of seven World Cup matches at the stadium in Foxborough, held between June 13 and July 9, 2026, which the resolution said drew 447,238 fans. The resolutions, which lawmakers said were "handled like legislation" rather than simple congratulatory citations, praised the coordinated work of the Foxborough Police Department under Chief Michael Grace and the Foxborough Fire Department under Chief Michael Kelleher, crediting their partnership with State Police, the 972nd Military Police Company and the Massachusetts National Guard for ensuring "the successful completion of all seven matches without a major security incident." The resolutions also credited Town Manager Paige Duncan and Select Board Chair William "Bill" Uchner for years of planning. Copies of the resolution were ordered transmitted to the Town Manager, the Police Chief, the Fire Chief, the Select Board Chair, the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment, and Kraft Sports and Entertainment. Lawmakers also presented the board with a replica print of the Declaration of Independence produced by the town's 250th anniversary committee.
