Foxborough School Committee Approves $45.2 Million FY27 Budget at 3.68 Percent Increase

FOXBOROUGH — January 28, 2026 — Foxborough School Committee approves $45.2 million FY27 budget at 3.68 percent over the town's recommended ceiling. The committee voted unanimously Wednesday on a $45,168,456 operating plan described by Superintendent Dr. Amy Berto and Business Administrator Karen Sheridan as a level-service budget that preserves current staffing, including 3.5 educational assistants and one special education teacher added to address shifting enrollment. Payroll now consumes 86 percent of the total budget, with salary costs up $1.7 million while non-personnel expenditures fell $125,603 — a structural gap Sheridan called "more and more problematic going forward." The committee also approved a $3,154,555 capital improvement plan covering two large buses, a minibus, technology upgrades, and a $95,000 turf field replacement, and passed a revised 2026-2027 school calendar 4-1 that starts all students September 1 and moves kindergarten screening to June as a one-year pilot. Taylor Elementary Principal Mike Stanton reported the school has earned state or national recognition three consecutive years, with MCAS math proficiency rising from 31 percent in 2021 to 86 percent in 2025.
