Foxborough School Committee Approves $55,600 Heating Transfer, French Textbook, Four Policies
FOXBOROUGH — May 27, 2026 — Foxborough School Committee unanimously approved a $55,600 budget transfer and a $20,000 French textbook purchase at its May 27 meeting. Business Director Sheridan requested the transfer — moving funds from the private tuition school account to natural gas — to cover an unusually cold winter that forced facilities staff to keep heating systems running continuously to prevent frozen pipes; the committee approved 5-0. World Language Department Chair Christine Smith and colleagues Zach Diorci and Holly Parsons presented a full K-12 curriculum review, after which the committee voted 5-0 to purchase a new French textbook for grades 9 through 12 at $20,000 as the only budget item required. The committee also passed four policies on second read — superintendent evaluation (CBI), administrative reports (CL, amended to read "may include" rather than "will include"), grants proposals (DD), and community use of school facilities (KF) — all 5-0. The Varsity Softball Booster Club presented a proposal to paint a mural on the away dugout, an item held for a formal vote at the next meeting, and the committee voted 5-0 to hold its annual retreat July 20 with MASC facilitator Sean Costello.
