Foxborough Delays Gillette Stadium License Vote Amid Dispute Over Revised Contract Terms

FOXBOROUGH — April 14, 2026 — Foxborough Select Board continues Gillette Stadium license hearing after dispute over new license form. The board voted 4-1 Tuesday to push the public hearing on Craft Sports and Entertainment LLC's 2026 Annual Entertainment License to a special meeting Friday, April 17 at 12:15 p.m., after attorney Gary Ronan of Goulston and Storrs told the board his client received a materially revised 16-page draft license — up from the prior seven-page form — only one week before the hearing and had been unable to discuss the changes with town officials. Town Counsel Jay Tallerman defended the revision as an overdue effort to recover fixed public safety costs from police, fire, and the regional 911 center SEMREC that exist "only to serve the stadium" and have been borne by Foxborough taxpayers for years. The 2026 event slate includes sold-out BTS concerts projected at up to 72,000 fans each, back-to-back Savannah Bananas games at 64,000 per day, and a Navy-Notre Dame game on Halloween. The current license expires April 24, leaving roughly two weeks before the first events would be unlicensed.
