Foxborough Select Board tightens parking rules ahead of 2026 World Cup

FOXBOROUGH — January 20, 2026 — Foxborough Select Board unanimously updated commercial parking rules to allow the police chief to require ticket verification at private satellite lots for major events, a step aimed at keeping unticketed fans away from Gillette Stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Police Chief Grace told the board the change closes a gap in existing event-licensing language, saying flatly, "No ticket, no entry," and noting the town is also coordinating with the MBTA to require ticket verification before selling train passes for match days. The board separately voted to sell a town-owned parcel at 175 Mechanic Street to the Sage Center for Learning Incorporated for $350,001 — the only bid received — and approved the 12th annual Foxborough Cleanup Day for April 11. Town Manager Paige reported Foxborough is tracking more than 70 Gillette Stadium events on the 2026 calendar, raising board concern about whether public safety resources can sustain the load, with cost data being assembled by the chiefs for a future presentation.
