Planning Board backs ban on data centers
Planning Board · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Foxborough Planning Board endorses townwide ban on data centers, backs Kraft Group veteran dog facility. The board voted unanimously to send a data center prohibition, drafted by Zoning Board of Appeals chairman Barnett Overit using Mansfield's Attorney General-approved bylaw as a model, to town meeting for all zoning districts. Overit said he wanted to "not permit data centers within the town." Separately, the board granted two special permits for a Kraft Group-backed veteran service dog training facility at 108 Washington Street, where representative Sarah said the project responds to the fact that "22 veterans a day die by suicide." The board also approved removal of 19 National Grid-flagged shade trees on Water, Prospect and Granite streets and heard that a property at 0 East Belcher Road had grown to 63 vehicles against a court-ordered 40-vehicle limit.
